About
Miho Hatori is a Tokyo-born, New York–based artist, vocalist, composer, and music producer whose practice moves fluidly across sound, performance, and visual media. Her work is guided by archipelagic thinking, navigating between distinct territories of expression while tracing the deeper currents that connect them.
She was a founding member of the influential NYC group Cibo Matto and has collaborated with artists including Gorillaz on their debut album and the Beastie Boys, performing at festivals and venues internationally.
Her multidisciplinary practice brings together experimental sound, voice, improvisation, video, and performance to explore the fluidity of identity and perception, and the shifting ways we experience the world. Her projects include New Optimism, Miss Information, Salon Mondialité, Do Whales Dream of Electric Human?, Smokey & Miho, and her latest multimedia performance piece, Paris Syndrome, commissioned by EMPAC. Her work has been presented and performed at EMPAC, The Kitchen, The Broad, Lincoln Center, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Tokyo University of the Arts, Kim? Contemporary, Pioneer Works, and Prada Mode NYC.
She also composes and produces music for film, soundtracks, installations, and brand sound identities, including projects for New Balance, SoftBank, and Aesop.
