About

Miho Hatori is a Tokyo-born, New York–based artist, vocalist, and music producer whose practice moves fluidly across sound, performance, and visual media. Her work is guided by archipelagic thinking—navigating between distinct territories of expression while tracing the deeper currents that connect them.

She was a founding member of the influential NYC group Cibo Matto and has collaborated with artists including Gorillaz (the debut album) and the Beastie Boys, performing at festivals and venues internationally.

Her practice has evolved to focus on experimental sound, voice improvisation, video, and multimedia performance, exploring the fluidity of identity and perception through projects including New Optimism, Miss Information, Salon Mondialité, Do Whales Dream of Electric Human?, and Smokey & Miho. Her works have been presented at The Kitchen, EMPAC, The Broad, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Tokyo University of the Arts, Kim? Contemporary, and Pioneer Works.

She also composes and produces music for films, soundtracks, installations, and brand sound identities, including projects for New Balance, SoftBank, and Aesop.
